If you have been reading my blog for any length of time, you know how I treat this fundamental idea of division and all its assigned power. With respect. From division’s father and namesake, the Devil, or the Latin el Diablo (the Divider) to the fundamental physics of electricity and energy storage, I respect the necessity of lawful separation and created boundary layers like I trust and depend upon insulation on copper wires.  What some call evil is a necessary part of this operating system.

The ethos of reconciliation as demonstrated by Christ has gone from foundational to western civilization to a cognitive dissonance allowing for both Christ and Machiavelli to live within separate compartments within the same mind.  Sleepy, content small towns whose main structure was the local church have grown into ever more complex, diverse and yet interdependent mega cities to meet every taste and every need. From childhood innocence to young adult adventure seeking, we finally are confronted with the an unsustainable dalliance usually coupled with an existential crisis.  All life follows the same path.

There are many different strategies life uses to be more resilient and able to respond to external stimuli.  Today we will discuss division. Atomizing an organization as large and as capable as a human into trillions of individual cells with every cell needing food, oxygen, waste, chemical signaling and neural communication is a complexity of design that must have purpose.  Why keep a six foot tall human divided into microscopic pieces?
